The Mountains of Mourne are a product of the Ice Age and were formed 50million years ago. These mostly rounded mountain peaks and dramatic granite outcrops are popular with walkers and hikers from all over the world.

Newry has a long and proud history and traces its origins to St Patrick who reputedly planted a yew tree at the head of the strand. The Gaelic words Iuír Cinn Tra, were finally shortened to the word, Newry. Busy and vibrant today, Newry is one of Ireland’s foremost shopping destinations with an array of traditional, independent trader and multi national retailers which combine to provide great shopping opportunities.

The Ring of Gullion’s striking landscape is the result of the unique geology of the area. A ring of igneous rock has resulted in a distinctive range of peaks and the area is scattered with small farmsteads and historic monuments. This magical landscape has been illustrated throughout the ages in local literature, poetry, music, history and art.
